My self-drive along the East Coast of Australia

Like everything in life the trip got me both positive and negative experiences. Let’s start with the positive ones!

There were 3 of us: Romane, Eduardo and me. For me, the best place was Nimbin (no, not because of that ;P) but because the people and the energy reminded me of Chile. The people in the south of Chile are really nice, warm and they always show their love by giving you food (You will never go hungry if you go to a house in southern Chile). Nimbin was something similar, all the people saying “Hi, how are you?” and “Welcome.” For example, one guy started to talk with us on the street and we all finished by taking pictures and selfies with his dogs which pictures he then sent to his daughter. Another night, we spent a lot of time talking with a guy who lived at a campsite with his dog, even with a woman who had sold everything and now they live in a truck with her dog too (just now I have noticed that everyone had a dog… mmm interesting). Well, the thing is we felt extremely comfortable in that town and we finished with a friendly vibe.

On the other hand, in Brisbane we had a bad experience. Before I go on, I need to say that I loved that city and we did a lot of really good things, but yes, something happened in the city. We were driving to the city trying to find a parking spot, and we did! But in an underground car park, which would be good if our car was a standard car, but no, it was a van with a roof, so yes… It was quite high, and yes, we hit the ceiling. We thought: “It doesn’t matter, we will pay the insurance, so we will only lose the bond” But no, it wasn’t like that because if you hit the roof, you need to pay everything!!! And it was  so expensive ;-( The moral of the story is: never try parking a van in an underground car park. Anyway, all in all, the trip was a really good experience. I can’t tell you everything in this blog post because it could be too long, but I can say that if you can, take your stuff and travel along the east coast. The ride will be worthwhile.
